GRAIL

Image
'Grail' was a story I worked on for years, went through several drafts and did lots (LOTS) of drawings but, in the end, as good as I think the story is I cannot write it. Bottom line is the story, though it seems to be about this one guy it's about four women who are actually Gods who have been born into the human race to help save this world from itself...And I use the word 'Gods' but they're really something else...Being mortal we have no words for them. But I've written the story 'Bible' and, like I said, did a lot of drawings. So I'm going to just put these portraits up and I think most of you will recognize them...All artists use models and images and people to inspire a character. I'm no different. Just older. 'Grail' is based in San Francisco and quite obviously an LGBTQ tale with an inclusive cast. There will be more tomorrow and for a while cause...A lot of drawings!

In No Way is this Safe for Work...

When I first started doing 'Serious Art' I followed in the tradition of the 'Masters' and drew/painted women. I love drawing the female form in all shapes and sizes,  I love the way flesh moves, the whole thing. With men it's pretty much about muscles and exaggeration and so many stereotypes (Unless it's portraits which I love doing).  So, here's some art that hasn't been posted in FB for obvious reasons. I have a lot of drawings and paintings I haven't posted before because of the whole questionable rules that seem to change each and every day.  I hope you enjoy these and let's look forward to a better new year. Peace, love and comfort to all those who are still dealing with fear and anger toward them for wanting to simply be themselves.

Blame is what we do when we refuse to accept our failings...

Way back in September of 1989 I entered a rehab center for drug and alcohol abuse. I was seriously fucked up and quite honestly trying my best to kill myself each and every day with whatever I could get my hands on to help me along that final journal...Seriously, there wasn't a day in the 80s when I didn't take a drug or drank a lot. Had it not been for a couple of things, a friend and the shrinking ability of my skills of drawing and painting became a revelation and so I made the very difficult decision to go to rehab. The first thing they did was put me in the 'Screaming Room' to allow the drugs in my system began to be pissed or sweated out of my system and trust me, this process is beyond any pain you could possibly think of and the whole seeing things that may or may not have been there is enough to drive a person crazy.  Then came the serious shit. If you've ever seen the movie 'Clean and Sober' then you can get a hint about what the process is about. ...

Choices...

Image
All my life I've been at odds with the word 'Choice'. As American's we're told from the beginning that we live in a country where we can actually have a 'Choice' in our lives and, yes, sometimes they're not particularly good or smart or even right (I have problems with the word 'Right', also. We'll talk about that later), but we have the right to choose. In the last decade I, and a whole lot of others, have awaken to the truth that the American's who have 'Choices' are usually white and not a person of color and that women of all races have even fewer options and if you're not a cop or wealthy politician or head of a drug cartel it doesn't matter if you're white and the whole 'Choice' thing goes out the window with all the other fairy tales we've been fed over the years.  I'm one of those white people who never really thought about race. I grew up on the south side of the tracks, my friends were Hispa...

Art in Black and White...

Artists tend to draw what they know, what they're comfortable with. I was fortunate because I met an incredible individual back in college who taught me about the history of Africa, the beauty of a people who live in the cradle of civilization. Here are some of the drawings and paintings I've done, dedicated to Diana...Wherever she may be today. Just a few of the drawings and paintings I've done over the years....Enjoy.
